Friends tell me I am crazy
That I'm wasting time with you.....
That I'm wasting time with you.....
So I was just thinking about what was a quick to end argument from Saturday Night with the Mr. I can't remember the start exactly, but I said something about how fabulous I am for getting him cricket tickets and I always do nice shit for him and he then had to make the claim, he does plenty as well. All this in front of two dinner guests may I add, and once again I dont know who is more stupid, him or me? Anyway I challenged this claim, "What was the last nice thing you did for me?" Plenty, lots etc... "But thats not WHAT you did. Name ONE THING nice you've done for me!?" End of argument and I hope he was feeling as embaressed as what I was.
So now I was thinking, of all the things I do/have done and what do I get in return? Wet towels left on MYSIDE of the bed, empty beer/bundy cans all around the lounge, spilt sugar and coffee mixed with abit of water so when I get up theres a nice gooey mess on the bench, rubbish bags he's to lazy to take out so he leaves out the front for the feral cat to rip up and spread shit everywhere? I am a lucky girl now aren't i?
Things I do:
1. I may not do it all the time but once or twice a fortnight I make his lunch, often leaving a little note between his sandwhiches with things like - Love You on. I am lamely romantic sometimes.
2. As above, I also bake a cake or cupcakes or muffins etc to go with the lunch.
3. When doing the groceries (which I do as he will never come with me and give me a hand) I think oh, mark will like this and get his fav treats, cool drink(6 bottles of solo anyone?? he wanted the green caps) or meat stuff. I even think to check if we have pies in the freezer cause he likes them and I always make sure there is some there.
4. I always (unless im dying of hunger and even then 9/10 times I still let this happen) let him have the last bit of what ever we're having for dinner. If we're having pizza I leave him the last slice, or at a restuarant (I honestly struggle to finish a meal when out) we do a quick plate swap and he finishes it. Or for desert I always give him that extra scoop of icecream or if its the last of something - he gets it.
5. Once again 9/10 I am the one doing the cleaning, usually of messes he makes (all over the stove) with cleaning the only thing I bother asking him to do now is sweeping and I take a deep breath, sigh, close my eyes for a minute and wish I was Cinderella and soon a prince will come and rescue me before doing everything else!! I dont think he even knows how to use the washing machine.... But we'll save that for another day. I also dont think this is something nice i do for him, since i dont think he gives a shit about the fact the place is clean or messy or what I do to make it look nice, decorating/painting/etc. So really what's the point???
6. I go to things I actually dont like (rugby) and I can tolerate footy so isnt so bad. I get tickets to things I think he'll like ... (2 months of being together "anniversary" I got him rugby tickets - gr8 seats as well, and to Jimmy Barnes (feel my enthusiasm) and he got to see some of his old mates there as well - bonus points for Jen!) And most recently cricket. I also went on a stupid sports tour while in Melbourne!!
7. I have organised some nice little picnics, last one we went to Kings Park and it was all v.nice and romantic. Dam romantic side of me again
8. I have gone and picked his and his mates sorry drunken asses up at all hours of the morning. he claims he would do the same, which he might, but I plan and organise crap so I dont have to drunkenly call up someone 4 oclock in the morning. COMMON COURTESY!! Please also note, I dont care if he goes out without me unlike some chicks I have known who are heaps controlling with their partners. I even let him go to Zelda's etc.
9. I make things I know he likes, like the quiche I do and 9/10 Sundays I am the one who gets up and makes a nice brekky, from bacon and egg sandwhiches, pancakes, full brekky with sausages etc...
I could go on, I got a whole trailer load full. So now here's the question.... why do I do it? I thought it was love but I now I think it's stupidity. Stuck in a rut cause I dont know any better or just put up with it. Sure you do things for the people you care about not expecting anything in return, but when I've just cleaned everything and within 5 mins of him walking in the door it looks worse than before I cleaned up. I get him tickets to the cricket and the night before he does something like *click here* whats complained about there. Can you blame me for feeling like this??? Honestly??
Well I've had enough of this for now, gonna go look at Vogue or browse ebay for abit to help me feel better.
Till then....
